At Hyakkaou Private Academy, the offspring of prominent businessmen and politicians attend a specialized institution where gaming skills and social perception take precedence over scholastic achievement. When the sun sets, certain areas on campus transform into gambling havens governed by the student council, where betting high promotes ranking advancement and financial gain. Ryouta Suzui finds himself classified as a "house pet", a position reserved for the one hundred lowest-ranking students relegated to serving their higher-status peers. His fate transforms as Yumeko Jabami, a new and enigmatic arrival, enrolls.
