The story follows Takeru, a typical Japanese high school girl raised by nuns in a Buddhist convent. Despite being plagued with recurring nightmares triggered by the Witchblade's call, she feels an uncanny connection to the mystical gauntlet known as Oni no te ("Hand of Oni"). The artefact is safely kept hidden in a box within the temple, but Takeru's lineage has a mysterious link to the Oni legend, heightening her fascination for the Witchblade.
