Inazuma Eleven Ares is set in an alternate dimension that occurs after the events of the inaugural game. The plot follows the perspectives of three protagonists: Ryouhei Haizaki, Asuto Inamori, and Yuuma Nosaka. The story centres around a group of boys residing on an island, enthusiastic about soccer. However, their soccer club gets abolished, and the only way to regain it is by winning the Football Frontier tournament. Asuto Inamori and his friends head to Tokyo and enrol in Raimon Junior High School to compete in the Football Frontier. Their first hurdle is against the formidable Seishou Gakuen, who sit atop the rankings.
The first volume features different stories about the original cast\'s training sessions and special techniques. It fills in gaps that were never explained before and offers a new point of view about some in-game scenes. The second volume recreates the world seen in the videogame \"Inazuma Eleven Strikers\" for Wii, from the point of view of Inazuma Japan. It features many characters from every season and situations only seen in said game.

The main character, Endou Mamoru, is a very talented goalkeeper and the grandson of one of the strongest goalkeepers in Japan, who died before he was born.
